Potplayer drops HDMI/DP audio after display has waken from sleep

When I pause a video with potplayer and the display sleeps while the audio output device is via HDMI or DP, there would be no audio and the video will play frame by frame when the video is resumed after the screen has waked. It only started happening since spring 2020, iirc even before windows 10 2004 update

Things I've tried:
-reset potplayer to default settings
-latest beta
-2019 builds
-2018 builds
-2016 builds
-multiple windows reinstalls
-windows 10
-windows 11
-different hdmi displays
-downgrading nvidia gpu and hdmi audio drivers
-new hdmi tv

My setup has 1 DP->HDMI monitor and 1 HDMI TV connected if this matters, since I've seen one post online that indicate this might be related to multi monitor setups


Most important part is using other players like MPC-HC would have zero issues and would still have audio no matter how long I pause it. I really hope there would be a fix since I don't really like using MPC.

What is selected as the Windows 10 output device/playback device for Sound? (Look under Settings->System->Sound or look at Control Panel output device settings for sound.)
