it would be nice to have the date and time, or how long ago, a thread was started, under the title, just before who started it, in the list of threads.

I have seen this implemented in some forums yet I do not see the ultimate benefit of it.
But maybe vbulletin does not support it since the date I now see is the most recent posted date which is already provided for -
Okey. I was just checking the forums. I have to fix the search also.
-
Fixed now.
But it might be enough to hover over the thread title or username to show the thread start date. -
Added a bit more space under the date/username also.

yes, i do appreciate the work. thanks much for it! to me, the benefit is seeing the age of the thread like i see in Discourse. a 30 post thread over a couple days is very different than a 30 post thread over a couple years. also, someone can post to an ancient thread and make it look new when it isn't.

Don't like it. Prefer User then Date. Baldrick, thanks for the effort, though.
Cheers. -
Not sure if this is new, and it's not big deal (to me anyways) but I just noticed the "Last Post By" boxes sort of don't fit the text contents (anymore).
This is the forum at the default 100% size.

Although I am not bothered just how long a topic has been active, it does seem a more natural progression to have the date first. The topic starter is of less importance.
Sure that old topics are dug up (typically by newbies) and posted to. My own personal preference would be a scheme that old, inactive, threads be automatically closed.
Maybe we need a Poll -

maybe the look comes out more confusing since the date of the first post is near the most recent user name. if i were a forum designer i would be inclined to show a thread with first and last post with user and date for each. but maybe an age would be better, like "started about 1 year and 2 months ago" or "started about 3 hours and 23 minutes ago". the exactness only needs to be relative to the age. for a 10 year old thread, even the exact months would not matter.
just a thought (these can be dangerous).
and Yay to Baldrick for the work, no matter what we get. VH is now at the top of my forums list. -

Personally I don't like the idea of locking old threads. There can be legitimate reasons to grave-dig.
My YouTube channel with little clips: vhs-decode, comparing TBC, etc. -
