    Hello!

    IS AI colorization possible nowadays?

Even 1-2 years age, guys from Videohelp told , that it is a lot of manual handwork....

A perfect example for AI colorization:

Worth to watch and listen the whole clip:

The editor also used AI to increase the resolution of the original clip.

  3. The technique may be useful for some things -- but that clip is a serious desecration of a lot of hard work by a lot of talented people.

    Reminds me of this:

They used custom-built color and segmenting tools along with standard segmented in-painting of the chroma - MANUALLY - using stock layered compositing tools.

Where AI is used to good effect here is in the tracking of similar segments in time, the recognition of segments and their boundaries.

The "automatic" colorizing processes, whether traditional or AI, are still crap.

And NO, even that manually converted example is not even close to perfect.

  6. My first attempt at colourising Beatles live performance (EDIT: STILL PHOTOGRAPH) in NY looks better than anything AI can pull of. And believe me, that colourisation was crap..
