Is there a way to have a "light" Firefox?

Hi, and however...

but please I wonder if is there a way to replace Firefox with a light version of a Firefox-based browser. Seems that firefox use a lot of memory processes, sub processes, multiple processes for nothing. Firefox seems to consume a lot of system resources even with minimal navigation. After a few minutes the machine becomes heavy and slow, when firefox is suddenly closed everything goes back to normal. How is this possible even with the latest versions of firefox?

Only with a ridiculously underpowered machine! Or some other thing has been tweaked or is running that is screwing with your memory. Viruses?

I use FF and Chrome and others, daily, all day, using latest or near latest versions, and have NEVER encountered what you describe, even on a 4GB RAM machine (though it does tax my patience at 4GB).

There are others you could try as alternatives: K-Meleon, Otter, Opera, Pale Moon, Sea Monkey, Brave. Try 'em out and decide which one you like.

But perhaps you should specify what kind of system you are having issues on.
Include hardware & specs, OS, running software, version #s.

maybe you have firefox add-ons and/or extensions? try getting rid of them all.

From what you write, I also consider this probably being malware. Get rid of it (i.e. delete the Firefox profile folder). Do a complete virus scan of the computer, and if that doesn't help, then re-install the OS.

No, those may be (using) chromium engine, but they aren't chrome.

Start it with:
Firefox --safe-mode
It disables all themes and add-ons but the rest runs normally.
