  1. Hi,

I have a DVD that has a threatrical release and an extended version. I've ripped everything to mkv with MakeMkv, but the biggest file is the theatrical release. I have identified all the files that belong to the extended version, but I can't figure out how to combine them with the main title to recreate the extended version. I have searched high and low for instructions, but most of them are many years old using software that won't install on my Mac because it is all really old and no longer developed.

I am working with a Mac.
I am trying to rip Meet The Fockers
I believe seamless branching is how the extended version is constructed on the DVD

I have seen posts here and there that imply there is software that can interpret a DVD and see that there are two versions and one is longer. Is that true and is the software usable on a modern Mac?

I'm on a Macbook Air and no longer need to rip DVD's however, in the past on other Macbooks I've used VLC to convert. See this guide:

It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

  3. I am able to see two movie files on the disc. But they are the same length. The extended cut should be about 9-10 minutes longer. Why don't I see the longer cut?

try playing the movie, the theatrical cut should have a rating (rated R) before the movie starts
the unrated version does not. the extended version runs 124 minutes - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290002/alternateversions
