Ok, i have a 756 mb movie, i was so mad that i couldnt fit this on 1 disc then some guy said that mpeg2's are special and that i could easily fit it on if I overburned.

I went into properties>expert features> and allowed it

then when i went into burn options before i burnt the file> on the top menus in the window, i went to the first 1 and instead of "try to fit to disk = 74 min" i clicked on "Users preferences" or whatever. then when i tried to burn it said insert a bigger cd...

then i set it 90 min and the overburn window popped up, yet it failed near the end of the burn

and my discs are 750 (74 min i think)... so what am i doing wrong? can someone tell me how to properly overburn this SVCD?

thanks, i've already got 2 coasters, dont wanna have 3

  2. Ok are you using an 80 minute cdr or is it's 74 minutes? you really should be using 80 minute disks

then look up your cdr an see if it supports overburning

it may not and trying to force nero to do it may damage the drive

my plexor does overburn but my previous cdr did not

I can get 850 or more on a 80 minute cdr in VCD/SVCD format - but it depends on your hardware and that you start out using 80 minute disks

  6. I will assume you are selecting ( Within Nero ) to make an SVCD
    and not just a simple data-disc ?

  7. CompUSA sells a 850 MB, 99 minute CD. Works perfect with nero. I guess that your file is just a bit too large. the 99 minute CD will do it for you. SKU 47669 17059. the cost is less than 10 for 16 cd and jewel case.

    good luck

  9. phhoth, i went to compusa today and they said they dont carry 90 or 99 min cd's.... i even asked a second person to make sure..... and they said no.... i am tryin to burn cvd's and of them came out to be a gig so i wanted to try cd-r or rw and see if my burner can do them...... also i have a usb phillips and was wondering if anyone know if they can make a software update for the 99 min burning or is it a hardware limitation??????

  10. @Madoshi X: it should come down to 2 things 1) did you change the settings in Nero to allow overburning 2) does your hardware support overburning?

if your hardware does not then all this trying my break your cdr - seriously

  11. I had this same problem tonight. I was finally able to overburn, but when I go to play it in PowerDVD, it reports an invalid file format. I read the nfo that came with it (Dark Angel's Freak Nation) and burned it as an SVCD, but no go. Could this be because I se the disc size to 84 minutes to allow over-burning? Nothing will play the file, either from disc or the downloaded file.

p.s. - Should the file be an .mpg file in the MPEG2 fodler on the disc?

  12. Well, I got a ncie surprise. While the Dark Angel I burned tonight won't play off my DVD drive, using PowerDVD or other software, it did play in my standalone, which is what I wanted anyway.
