Just dropped mine off at the garbage/recycle center. I hadn't used it in over a decade. When I retired it, it still worked but was slow to finalize discs.
Sad day.....knowing what I paid for that all those years ago.

The old ones were built like a tank, the only thing that affected some were bad caps during the cap plague of the early 00s. I have more working early DVDRs than late 00s that had poor build quality due to trying to get the price point as low as possible.
Unfortunately, DVDRs were only around about a decade, less in N. America before they met their demise
