Yep, they play perfectly fine in any other media player.
As for the file format, PotPlayer renders the file the exact same way, whether it's mp4, mov, m4a, etc. This happens with any video I've tried playing. mp3 files and such work perfectly fine, but upon turning on the visualiser I get the exact same result. -
Right click the video, select filters, take a screenshot and post it here. For example,
-
close the video. Open preferences/filter control/video decoder
and set the type of video you're using to "system default" (here you can see the typical h264/avc usually used in mp4/mkv)
Hit apply.
Reopen the video and check the filters again, confirm it's using the system filter (as in mine above, it's using lav filters) -
no difference, as far as I can tell. This is after changing the Video Decoder settings to look exactly like yours.

deselect the "use built in dvxa video decoder"
What version of windows are you using?
Do you have Lav Filters or some other codec pack installed?
If not install LAV filters and retry, it should have appeared as an option.
What is the encoding of the particular video you're using? Open it with mediainfo, put it text view,
and post the info here. -
Sorry for the late reply.
Disabling DVXA Video Decoder changed nothing.
I recently upgraded to Windows 11 but this issue was occurring when I was using Windows 10, too.
Using LAV Filters changed nothing.
Putting it through mediainfo returns this:
