  2. Download VirualDub (find some older versions as well and create subfolders in the virtual directory so you can have a few versions on your PC at once) Then drag your movie file into the VD (VirtualDub) application and then using the little time bar at the bottom, drag it to the start of where you wanna cut it and hit 'HOME' then move it along to the end of where you wanna cut it and hit 'END'. It'll say somein like 'offset end ...l' and then just hit delete... Once your done cutting ect.. Select [File/Save AVI] then give it a name and it'll save the video as AVI.
That was brief but hope it helps... :s

  6. Hi,

I need you guys' expertise. I have the following problems:

    1. There's nothing wrong with VD, but my AVI files are from DV, so they are DV compressed...the VD does not support that.

    2. I really need a AVI software which can cut and merge AVI files (DV compressed AVI files).

    3. I also need a good DV capture softare. Could anybody recommend one?
Currently I am using Adobe Premiere 6. But you need to manually check { .. } and log In/Out.... It's kind waste of time.
Then I found another software called scenalyzer , which can create video index of the whole DV tape in 5 minutes. But the problem of this software is that it tries to be too "smart"....and it didn't provide the function to let user "manually" choose the place we want to capture. Instead, it makes you several "scenes", which is sometimes not the place we really want.

Your help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

I'm still not certain why Vdub won't work. It loads in DivX avis which are compressed.

As to DV capturing I would check out the other forum.

I capture DV with Scenalyzer then trim and edit with Premiere. It's hard to beat Premiere for editing DV. Then frameserve the DV to TMPGenc for producing an mpeg.

As for the original question, I don't believe that Premiere supports DIVx. If it did, you have to make sure that your source files and output file settings are the same.

Virtual Dub is a much better tool for the original problem.
