  1. Hey there,

So I've recently bumped into a little problem with a couple of mp4 files downloaded from the web. I'm assuming it's a codec problem? either way, I know someone here will be able to help as google was useless.

So the beginning of the file will play "its a screen asking for patron support" but as soon as that part finished the screen goes black and all I hear is the sound. Now I have two of these files (two halves of a football match) and one of them actually played ONCE but was kinda blurry? jittery. But then it didn't play anymore. Screen went back and all I could hear was sound. Tried in both quicktime and VLC. But no luck.

What I find strange is that the title/opening sequence will play but the rest of the video goes black? Yet it worked ONCE.

    Any ideas?

    All the best

    Kirk

  5. Yet mine will play the screen at the start, the replay football part. But after that it just goes black?

I also downloaded the file from the first link, no problems with playback. Perhaps your download is bad

Click on the link and download the portable media player and use that to test your file

  9. Unfortunately I'm on MAC. It seems MPC is windows only?

Sorry I can't advise you further about a player. If it's only this file that has problems
I would try downloading it again.
Nothing unusual about this file, standard mp4, with H.264/AVC video, AAC audio

  11. Well, then it must've been my download! That's good to hear I'll have another go later Thanks

  12. Never mind, It's definitely something on my end.

I downloaded a new match and the video plays fine. BUT, after about 15/20 seconds the sound will start to cut in and out. If I leave it, it'll cut out entirely. If I pause and resume. It'll "reset" and the sound will carry on as normal, until 15 seconds later it'll start chopping in and out and then eventually go quiet again. I can keep this loop going. No matter where I start in the match, it'll play fine for 30 seconds, then it'll start cutting in and out until eventually the sound goes all together. The actual video meanwhile is playing just fine, no lagging at all.

Tried the mp4 in vlc the sound won't cut out but it'll cut out every 3 seconds or so. On off on off on off.

    Any ideas?
