Hello,
I am looking at a couple ways to change the Audio Track Name in some of my files.
1st Option: I can go in the header editor and change the track name and save, pretty easy. I will probably just use this, but I have a question below...
2nd Option: I can load the file in the Multiplexer, select the track and change the track name. (no other changes are done).
Original

The total file size went from 6.41GB to 6.27GB just by renaming the audio track using option 2. What else is MKVMerge doing to the file? Stripping unneeded data?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

Different containers and different multiplexers have different overheads. Did you include all tracks including subtitles, chapters, etc? You cut off the bottom of the images so we can't tell.

Yes, all tracks were left the same. I simply opened MKVToolNix, drug the file in, changed the track name and then multiplexed it. That was it. Nothing was removed, added, etc.
I think I will just use the header editor since it is faster and seems to get me what I am looking for. Thanks!

Can you reproduce this effect with smaller video files and post them? I’d be happy to examine the difference to see what’s going on here.

Better to upload the files here, there's a 500MB max files size.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
It looks like the difference between ffmpeg and mkvtoolnix muxing. If I remux the mkvtoolnix version with ffmpeg I get almost exactly the same size as the original, within about 400 bytes.
