  1. I am aware there is a new version but it's confusing as hell to try and set it up because there is always some step I'm missing. Can anyone help me?

You download it to a folder of your choice, put ffmpeg into the same folder,
open a CMD prompt at that location and issue the command. That's it.

And if command line syntax troubles you just use one of the many gui's available such as TVDownloader.

  4. Note that Windows 10 no longer allows you to "Open CMD Window Here" via Shift+RightClick.

It's "Open PowerShell Window Here" now. But you can switch to CMD by typing CMD+Enter into the PowerShell Window once it's open. There's a Registry hack that restores the Open CMD Window Here context menu. You can also run command line exe's within the PowerShell window by putting .\ before the program name. Assuming your in the youtube-dl folder: ".\youtube-dl http://..."

"Adding Youtube-DL to your PATH allows you to run the youtube-dl command from any command-line interface such as Command Prompt or PowerShell without needing to first cd into the directory where you installed Youtube-DL."
