Hi everyone!
Lately i've been sharing some videos online but for some reason the videos edited/converted with Premiere or Resolve (free version) won't "trigger" an hd conversion where i share it online, but if i convert the same video with Staxrip it will "trigger" an HD conversion
Ive tried several different setting within Premiere and Resolve but the outcome is always the same, can anyone help me finding out if there's a seeting im missing in premiere/Resolve or is exporting to lossless and then using Staxrip the only option.
These are family/personal videos, no piracy.

I love it when a plan comes together! -
Hi Prowo, thanks for helping, i've edited it, there were some errors in it, ive tried different settings in Premiere (bitrates, profiles, levels) but still doesnt trigger the online HD conversion, meanwhile with StaxRip its the opposite, works everytime, at the momment i'm using either Premiere/Resolve and export to lossless format and then use StaxRip to convert to a much "smaller size" than prores and similar.
My goal was to avoid creating massive lossless files with Premiere/Resolve and also avoid demuxing these massive files with Staxrip....basically doing it straight to MP4 from Premiere/Resolve, ive also tried Kdenlive and Olive (2.0) and same thing happens.I love it when a plan comes together! -
I noticed that the original source file has a variable frame rate (29.706 fps), while the one encoded with premiere has a constant frame rate (29.970 (30000/1001) fps), and the one encoded with staxrip has a variable frame rate again (29.696 fps).
The trigger for the re-encoding when sharing online is probably the variable framerate.
The clean and correct conversion is that of Premiere.
The variable framerate of the source file could also have been caused by unclean multiplexing.
Try to remux the source file (e.g. with MkvToolKit); then control this new mkv with Mediainfo to see if a constant framerate of 29.970 fps is now displayed. -
Hi Prowo, thanks, i thought about that but not even the source file works, the place where i share the videos converted the source file and the premiere output only up to 720p only the staxrip conversion went up to 1440p...weird i know... ive tried changing the CodecID on the premiere conversion with ffmpeg's "brand" flag but i cant get it exactly like the staxrip one... could it be a x264 conversion option/setting?
its a video recorded with my smartphone (pixel 2xl) will try that...

Are you saying the uploaded streaming video has had it's resolution reduced from the original 4k?
To what? Which site?
Usually Youtube will produce a version same res as the original, and lower res versions -
Hi Davexnet, thanks for helping, the source file is a 4k video file recorded with my phone, the version i shared here hasnt been altered in any way, if i try to uploaded it to facebook it only gets converted up to 720P, the same happens to the versions converted with Premiere and Resolve, the only version that gets an online conversion up to 1440p version is the one converted with Staxrip.

tried remuxing the source file to mkv using mkvtoolnix but still displays variable framerate and only converts up to 720p online when uploaded.

ive uploaded several videos during the day with different settings and remuxing the source file to mkv has worked, after 20min its available up to 1440p, all the rest still only 720p, will remux the premiere file to mkv and see if it does the same.

Well spoted Dave, got so many test files on my desktop, ive uploaded the correct one now.
I love it when a plan comes together! -
The obvious differences are the Staxrip is variable frame rate Vs. Fixed, and it also has the detailed settings in the
file while the other does not, probably as the Premiere file looks like it used MainConcept encoder Vs. the x264 of Staxrip's encode.
Whether this is a factor is a guess at best. Are you not able to contact any support person @ FB? -
Hi Dave, i can only send support tickets, none answered so far, found some more stuff, using staxrip i redone the conversion but used mp4box as the app muxer for audio/video streams and the 4k converted file only gets converted online up to 720p so i thought the trick was the ffmpeg muxing, so i took 4k premiere file and remuxed with ffmpeg but no luck, remuxed it again using staxrip's own ffmpeg version but no luck again, demuxed the premiere file to audio and video streams and muxed it back again but same thing happens
