  1. I just converted a file from avi to mpeg using TMPGENC. The audio sync in the avi file is okay. The sync in the mpeg file gets progressively worse as the film is played. I have seen posts about how to correct this condition but I would prefer to prevent it from happening in the first place. Any suggestions?

  2. yeah..try extracting the audio as a WAV with virtualdub then encode with TMPGE using WAV as audio source.

  3. already tried that and got the same result, the audio is ahead of the video.
It's about 1 sec ahead by the end of the film. I've converted other avi files with no problems.

  4. I have the same problem, tries to convert an avi file to mpg and gets a file where the audio out-of-synch problem becomes worse as the film progresses. Although I don't know how to fix this, I think I know what causes this. The movie had lots of picture glitches in it, like green boxes that filled parts of the screen for a few seconds. I think this might have caused the frames not to be in complete synch with the audio.
Does anybody know if it's possible to remove these glitches from the movie? If so, then the audio synch problem might disappear.

  5. I didn't notice any video glitches. Virtualdub says that the audio preload skew is 1.3sec which is probably the delay I have as the film nears the end. I split the avi into 2 files and now the preload skew is only 0.17sec.
I converted the avi files to mpeg and though the skew is noticeable it's not irritating. I have no idea what preload skew is but it sounds important. Is there any way to adjust it?

  6. Try DivFix to source out bad frames or download the "mp3 freeze Virtualdub" from Digital Digest site.
Then you can remove the bad frames and re-encode.
