We're just reaching the final stages of building an insulated shed, just needs to be shelved out and roof insulation. The humidity inside is quite high given it's summer, would it be safe to store a few of my VHS tapes in there? As i'm struggling for space here in my room due to the sheer amount i've acquired over the years.

hi there,
You can use expandable spray foam for larger holes. Examine the shed during rainfall, to see if any water is leaking in. Install a roof with a good drainage system. You can use shingles, metal roofing, or fiberglass. -
This.
A general rule for any magnetic media is to don't store them in an environment you wouldn't be comfortable in for a few hours. Cool, constant temps and low humidity are as stated in the site are key.
Thinking about it, what would you store in a shed with high humidity, except for short term? Anything metal will likely corrode and rust. Anything organic like wood, cardboard or paper, would likely develop mold. Same with anything plastic-like, like videotapes.Last edited by lingyi; 17th Jun 2021 at 08:39.
