Yes, I've been spotting this information on a couple of other tech sites.
Frankly, this "privacy nightmare" has been slowly getting worse and worse, but at a more rapid pace since ARPA became regular use by the general public, which goes way back to even my TRS80 units. And it is gaining speed.
It is odd how we see tech solutions for things like a logging in "loop" where a person tries over and over and over. Many times the solutions are found to break the loop.
But this "privacy loop" we are now in is way-way-way more difficult to break. Strange thing is us older types that started this, by accident, aren't going to be around when it gets worse. And it will get worse. And it really did start by accident. That might strike some as a way to try and push aside guilt, but we didn't see this coming back in the early 80s; kind of like that "MS" becoming the identifier of "DOS" - you know, 86-DOS to MS-DOS.Who will eventually be chosen to regulate the Internet? -
The great mass of users are either compliant sheep, or Don't Know | Don't Understand | Don't Care | Can't Be Bothered. Maybe until it really bites them in some way. Tech savvy criminals will find ways to evade and work around. The rest of us who do care and are not down with such disturbing developments may be forced to follow in the footsteps of Elliott the hacker character from the series "Mr. Robot." He had no truck at all with the likes of MicroSquish.
I've never used Bitlocker, never wanted to, and will do everything I can to steer clear of Win-11. Already have two different distros of Linux on one box, so far designated as "Experimental." I need to spend a lot more time on it, getting a lot more familiar.Looking for Rare / Obscure / Hard-to-Find Films ?
