I have a PixelView PlayTV card using the BT878 chipset, however, it can't capture in anymore than 352x288 under Windows 2000.

Are there generic drivers about that work under Windows 2000, that will let me caspture in 640x480 or possibly 720x576?

There is a movie coming up on my Satellite TV service, and I'd like to capture it into DivX 5.0, straight from the TV, at this size...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks all!

  2. I use the following driver on Windows XP, but, according to the
documentation it supports Windows 2000 as well.

    http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

Capturing is excelent: simply all possible and impossible systems
(all variations of NTSC/all variations of PAL/all variations of SECAM)
with any resolution (including 720x576 and, even, more).
Reliable and not resource hungry as well.

Driver should support TV/FM tuner as well as capturing, but I have no
idea how good this support is. I disable TV tuner support during driver
install, because I use my TV card for capturing from standalone VCR
    only.

MarkLV: Thanks! I could kiss you!

While the driver has introduced 1 or 2 little problems, (I get 3 Composite Video options in my format options.. only 1 of them works)... I can now capture at 720x576 (DVD PAL Standard), at 25fps, with no frame drops!

Saved me buying a new video capture card, and it looks pretty good.

    Thanks again, and Cheers!

  4. Those drivers are great. I have a question for you:

How did the direct capture to divx5 go? With my Athlon 700 I can capture to divx up to 360 vertical, any higher vertical resolution and my CPU tops out and I start dropping frames like mad. Does your 1.4 Ghz machine handle it well at high resolutions? You can do the full size PAL capture directly into Divx?

The card drops way to many frames in Divx 5 at 720x576, however it never dropped 1 frame at 640x480 (both at 25fps, based on a 20 second clip)..

I'm using Ulead Media Studio Pro to capture at 720x576 in Mpeg-2 format though (a DVD compliant steam), and it doesn't drop one single frame.. which i thought was pretty impressive.
