My car's GPS is updated by SDHC card, now at version 11. Packaging states, "Warning! The card in this package is write protected. It cannot be used in any other device."
I have older versions 6 & 9 SDHCs (all FAT32) I would like to reuse, but the Warning seems to be true--so far.
"Properties (ReadyBoost): The device is mounted read-only. This usually happens with write-protected devices/media or when BitLocker group policy settings prohibit write access to non-encrypted removable devices."
I've tried using diskpart & regedit fixes often suggested, after confirming the write-protect switch is at "off." None work.
BitLocker doesn't seem to be a factor, based on other utilities' analyses.
I hate to toss an otherwise good SDHC that's readable in my Win10 PC and other devices.
Any other options?

try this - with the card connected to your windows pc open the command prompt (cmd)
type diskpart and hit enter, Type the following command and hit Enter each time: list disk, select disk # (# is the number of your write-protected SD card.) attributes disk clear readonly wait for the process to complete - https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/how-to-format-a-write-protected-sd-card.html -
If you have access to a MAC or Linux machine sometimes reformatting it in those devices will work. Did that years ago in my then Linux media player for a card like that. Then reformatted again in my PC

On Windows, try HPUSBDisk https://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html. It's meant to force format flash drives, but I've used it on SD cards in a USB adapter. I have to Run as administrator on Win 10.
