    Hi

    This is driving me nuts.

I have downloaded items from player with get_iplayer all works fine.

But the resultant file doesn't play correctly in VLC, it plays fine in both WMP and 'Films &TV'

I have used both G-spot and MediaInfo to try and work out if I am missing a codec. Driving me nuts googling fo the codec i think it is, to not apparently be able to find it anywhere.

Please can someone help - Thanks in advance

VLC doesn't use external codecs, it uses it's inbuilt libraries.

Have you tried it in mpc-hc ? VLC can be a little strange at times.

You can upload a clip to the forum, 60 seconds should be enough. Use Avidemux to cut out a clip
    (using the A and B buttons )
    https://www.videohelp.com/download/Avidemux_2.7.8VC%2B%2B64bits.exe

By default it saves as MKV; if you'd prefer mp4 set the "output format" (lower left) to mp4 muxer.
Save the clip and upload here

    Hi,

    thank you for your time.

MPC-HC also works, proving to me it isn't the file, but is instead VLC.

i shall see if de-install and re-installing VLC will work (though this wont be the first time I've tried this) and if it doesn't ill have to just watch on something other than VLC.

    thanks again.

  7. Try changing the container with Avidemux to mkv.
Also, maybe you should post on VLC forums.
