  1. Hello everyone and sorry if it's a dumb question, I have been searching google for the past two days and found plenty of threads about 8bit vs 10bit but still can't figure this out.

I'm encoding my video archive using mostly handbrake and some FFmpeg and most of my sources are 8bit but some get a really big color/light?! gradient between 8 vs 10bit.
    • I wanted to know which color is the right one?
    • and if I can get the same colors in 10bit because 8bit size is bigger and for some reason and sometimes it produces some kind of artifact.

And I have tried the things suggested in this thread:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/382129-FULL-color-setting-in-Handbrake-and-Vidcoder

    encode settings are the same:
    RF22, Slow, SSIM and (--selective-sao 0 --no-sao)

tested with Mpc-hc, windows media player and potplayer

screenshots are from media player classic.
