  1. hi,

well ive checked all the guides on Frameserving from this site and read them thuroughly
yet no success ....tmpenc what ever i do keeps givin me the error ''can not open or unsupported''

[btw im running windows 98 used newest virtual dub and also older once
and the newset tmp enc and some older ones 12e and 12a i think]

ive tried with proxy on and off
the directshow reader in higher priority in lower priority heck i even put it on top and any other position in between.

ive tried to call the header file video.vdr.avi and video.vdr and even video.avi

but no luck....ive really tried everything i could think up
now im seriously hoping somebody outthere has the answer for me....cuz i just cant get this frameserver to work nd i really need it..... i need this to framserve my tv - segmented captures to tmpenc.
    thanks in advance

    regards
    Midnight

  2. Did you run virtualdubs auxillary file and enable frameserving.

  3. If you have both the VirtualDub handlers installed and the VFAPI for TMPGEnc (make sure it's the most recent one) loaded but it still doesnt accpet it you can try these two things.

Go under TMPGEnc-Environmental Settings-VFAPI Plugins-set the Direct Show Filter to 0 (zero)

if that does not work and you have very picky TMPGEnc (which I get every once and a while when I install the latest version)

create your full path to the active frameserving AVI (your virtual dub vdr file that you should name .avi even though virtualdub suggests .vdr) in something like notepad or if you have full paths enabled in IE you can grab it there :: example would be:

    c:\vcd\divx files\movies\converting.avi

copy/paste that full path and manually put that into TMPGEnc --- then go to Settings-Advanced and double click on source range - TMPGEnc will tell you "no video found" -- thats fine ... now close TMPGEnc (but leave the frameserving going)

then re-open TMPGEnc and it will see the frameserve avi :-)

I know it sounds crazy but it works all the time --- I frameserve 10x a week and sometimes I get the next version of TMPGEnc and it refuses to take the VirtualDub frameserve avi unless I do that.

    good luck!

  4. man truman... Thank you so much for that topic link !!!!!

VirtualDub-1_4_9 just has a glitch a bug or whatever, the frameserver jsut doesnt work
    i run win98... i de-installed the 1_4_10 handler, n installed the 1_4_9 handler..
did a tad bit of tweaking...
then tmpenc froze the first time opening the video.vdr.avi header
    i ctrl+alt+delt it

tried again and it works like a charm now... thank you so much
and stinky... thanks alot for that info also. il paste it in wordpad thatl come in handy when i get another version of tmpenc
