I'm using a Sony SL-HF2100 Betamax VCR through a Faroudja DVP-5000 scaler and Extron ADC to play old home movies on a 1080p plasma.
The picture is fantastic but there are frequent dropouts of some kind when connected through the Faroudja. If I connect the VCR directly to the TV or through the Extron only then there are no dropouts at all. I've played with the Faroudja connections and settings a lot (including simply line-doubling instead of scaling to 1080p) but no luck. Some of the old home movies drop out a lot more than others and some of the commercial tapes I have drop out the same way once in a while but not very frequently. My VHS VCR and Blu-Ray player connected through the Faroudja do not drop out at all.
Any ideas?
