Hi, When I download movies or TV programmes and transfer them to USB to play on my TV I cannot play them in the 16:9 ratio. But I can on my PC. I cannot change the TV picture size when playing files on USB. The files I download are 16:9 ratio because I can play them in that ratio on my PC through the USB. Please help.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Install a small program called mediainfo and post a text mode report of one of the files that does not display correctly on the tv

I'm not sure how to do that but here is one of the files info. This plays in 16:9 on USB when plugged into PC but when plugged in to TV only plays in 5:4.

I am not going to download that. The program is easy enough to use - load the video, select the view menu and then text mode
But if this displays as 5:4 it suggests that you have a 720*576 video with a 16:9 flag that only a PC player will support if there is no player setting on the tv player to force the aspect ratio. The program would confirm the assumption. -

Which width and hight do I need for it to play 16:9 or 16:10 on my TV please

The video confirms my assumption.
If it displayed correctly, the video would be 1024*576. But do check all your tv settings for the usb first -
Load your video in clever Ffmpeg-GUI, select multiplex, click on target file, accept the proposed filename, set DAR to 16:9, click multiplex, done.
The new created video should play fine on your TV.Last edited by ProWo; 28th Mar 2021 at 06:45.

There are no surprises here. The media player built into many TVs do not respond to DAR/SAR flags. You have to resize the video to match the DAR (in this case, 1024x576, or some other 16:9 frame size) and reencode.

I have found that many TV's do not respond to the DAR flag at stream level, but do respond at container level.
