  1. Hi

I was bought this player recently, and along with it some R1 DVD's. They don't play, and I have tried everything to find a code/hack etc to open it up.

I have spent 7 hours today googling incessantly, and even went and bought a OneForAll remote as the main solution was a code hack.

Btw, the OneforAll that seems to work for most people doesn't for me. Step5 (Code 5) doesnt seem to get a response from the remote, but the other 4 do.

Can someone, ANYONE, please help me and put me out of my misery

Have been quoted £200 to mod it, but would rather avoid if possible.

    Fingers Crossed!!

Use your PC to make MKV files of the DVDs( MakeMKV ).
Hook a small portable HDD to the player.
Watch the files from the external HDD.
    Done

  4. Sonys usually aren't crackable (easily).

If your country allows such a thing: Get a DVD writer. Get dual layer DVDs. Get a piece of software to make a legal copy. Make legal copy and watch that.
Most DVDs are only marginally larger than dual layer media so by shrinking menus etc. or copying only the film you will see no difference in quality.

You can also use software like VLC that ignores region codes on any drive with a drive...
