  1. Some of my .mkv files play well using my Micca but others won't play. This is information of 1 file that won't play. Can you tell me what the problem is and if there's anything I can do to get them to play on the Micca? Further down is a link to information about the Micca.

  2. No HEVC (h.265) support.

  3. Micca has no HEVC (h.265) support? Can I convert them? If so, what program would be good to do that? If not, do you know of a device that I can connect to my tv so that they will play?

  4. The web page you linked to doesn't list HEVC as a supported codec.

    Video Codecs – H.264/AVC, MPEG1/2/4, VC-1
And your file appears to be 10bit not 8bit, another problem for players of that generation.

You can convert the video to h.264/AVC with programs like Handbrake, VidCoder, AviDemux, ffmpeg, etc.

If your videos are accessible via WiFi (eg, Windows share or NAS) I highly recommend the latest Chromecast with Google TV for about US$50. There's a US$20 Ethernet adapter if your LAN is wired-only. It's a tougher decision if you want to play off a USB drive (flash or hard). The Chromecast only has one USB-C connection and it's used to power the device. To connect a USB drive you have to get a USB-C hub with PD (power delivery) and a beefier power adapter. Adding all that brings the price closer to US$100.

The one thing it is missing is AV1 codec support. That will probably be used more and more over the next several years as it's patent/royalty free and compresses better than HEVC.

  5. Thanks for the information and the links. I'll give them a try and I'll let you know how I do. I can play the files on my desktop but I'd rather watch them on my tv.
