New line characters are not honoured by my TV

Hi guys,

my first post here. I recently bought rather cheap Philips 50PUS7505 UHD. The problem with this TV is as follows. When I watch a movie from USB and subtitles are load (either from mkv file or from file), new line characters are not honoured. Let me give you an example.

A portion of srt file:

00:01:37,833 --> 00:01:40,791
First line.
Second line.

TV displays the above subtitle as:

First line.Second line.

But it should as:
First line.
Second line.

I played with CR/LF, encodings and all the supported subtitle formats. In all cases subtitles are wrongly displayed. Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug in the TV.
How do I solve this? Is there software that would allow for changing subtitles to fix this issue? Perhaps something along the lines could help:

I skimmed through the manual it doesn't specific what sub or video formats are supported. Try converting to SSA or ASS, which support full text formatting.

Edit: I found the supported sub and video formats. Keep note of the video profiles as this may be critical in the future when certain videos won't play.

Thanks for this. I have already tried all the possible formats. Unfortunately, without any luck.

first i'd make sure the srt is in utf-8. then since srt is a non positional subtitle format i'd insert spaces between the "first line" and "second line" until they aligned as you want.
