  2. Personally, I use the licenced version of Quicktime, but that costs money to purchase. All it does is make the mpgs and avis into image sequences, and I delete the ones that I don't want.

I also know that some programs that do screen captures require you to use the Scroll Lock key, and to have the latest version of Active X on your computer. Check with the program to makes sure that you are doing it correctly, or that the program captures video images also. Some programs will do screen captures, but will not do stills of video.

As always, let me know if this helps.

I did it once by opening the Mpeg/AVI file in I think it was Virtual dub or Tmpenc (its been a few months since I did it so cant remember 100%), on the frame I wanted I right clicked, copied the frame and pasted into Painshop pro as a new image. I did it to make a VCD menu so did a few times to make the background image, worked like a charm.

Like I said, its been a few months since I did it so if it doesnt work, iam sorry.

  6. You can always open the file in virtual dub, then go to - video - copy source frame to clipboard, and ctrl-v it into the image editor of your choice.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  8. Also, if you open your video files using PowerDVD, it will allow you to take a "snapshot" of whatever image you are trying to capture. I do this all the time.

  10. I use WinDVD for image capturing from DVDs, and it doesn't capture at full screen like you mentioned for the other programs. But it does capture at the appropriate resolution for the source. For example, a DVD will capture at something like 852x480 and a VCD will be 352x240. Even if you could capture at full screen, it won't increase the quality of the image.

If you need a bigger image, I'd suggest using any of the methods mentioned in this thread, and then use something like PaintShop Pro to increase the size. You could also use a resize filter in VirtualDub to get a larger image.

Plus, in MediaPlayer, you have the option of turning down "Hardware acceleration." Once you do that, you should be able to use Alt-Prnt Scrn or Shift+Print Scrn, and then paste in an image editing program.
