That was a common problem with DVDx v1.6, upgrade to DVD v1.8a or any later version from 1.6, and it will work much better.

I've been trying to convert the SVCDs of LOTR using DVDx v1.8a and I get the "too much sample problem" also.
I think it has to do with an audio problem. If I disable audio/video sync (from the input settings window), then the whole thing encodes fine (I get an error about padding being needed, so I click yes). However, some of the audio is cut out and it's out of sync with the video.
Any ideas? -
What/Why are you trying to convert the SVCD's to ?

My DVD player can't play SVCDs. So I'm converting the files to VCDs. I think my player can play XVCDs, but I haven't done any of those conversion before and I wanna get these files off my HD. Plus I can get the movies on to three CDs instead of four CDs (less swaping).
BTW, I finally got the files converted and burned. I used DVD2AVI to get the D2V and MPA files. I then used TMPGEnc to get a final VCD file (surprised that it was perfectly sync'd) that I split and burned. Finally, no more "too much sample" errors.
Now if I could only get the MPEG off my Spiderman 1 CD without locking up my drive...
