  1. Sometimes Handbrake will change the dimensions of a 1280x720 AVI file or MP4 that has been converted from AVI. These AVI are dashcam files

Example it makes one .MP4 1050x720. If i use custom and remove the numbers under automatic cropping left and right and change it to 1280x720 it then makes a 1280x720 mp4.Mediainfo says it is 1280x720

But when I drag that into Handbrake the automatic crop makes it 1050x720 again. Why and why does it only happen with some files.? Some have been shortened with SolveigMM vido splitter 6 prior to being Handbraked

It may crop if the video has black bars on either side.

If this is not the case post a screen shot showing the dimensions tab open,
and a mediainfo (text view) of your video

Handbrake will crop certain videos even if there isn't black bars, just set it to none for cropping, simple as that.
