Is there any way to run an OCR program against a video file and extract the text that appears on the screen?
This thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/306438-OCR-software-for-video-files%28hardsub%29 - has some advice on this, but 1) It's over 10 years old, and 2) What I want to do is slightly different.
There are a number of videos that people make of the lyrics of songs. Usually, I can get the lyrics in a text file from another source, but on rare occasions the video is the only place to find the lyrics to some songs. I could watch the video and type out the lyrics as they appear, but the lazy way would be to have some software do it. Is there any tool that can accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

I'm using VOSK with python on windows.
Huge learning curve
IMO the voice to text has been hijacked for spying on the people... the big corporations home automation sends any or all of what you say to the main servers, why? So, it's not easy to do, because they don't want it to be easy.If yer going with the flow, yer going down hill.
EDIT: There's this: https://cloud.google.com/video-intelligence/docs/text-detection
But it may be buggy beta still, lots of mistakes on OCR.
