  1. How do I play md0, md1, md2, mdf files in VLC player? Or do I have to use something else and combine them first?

they are old disk image segment files from back when files could only be a gig or 2 long. those probably were created by alcohol 120% software. how you combine them now if you don't have alcohol 120% i don't know. md0 type files aren't listed as one imgburn can open, as it can do most other types.

  3. Will the free version of alcohol 120% work to combine them? Then play with VLC player?

worth a try. what you should try to convert them to is an "iso" image, or extract the folders/files to disc. vlc can play them.
