I have problems to convert DIVX (avi) files with tmpgenc into mpeg vcd and svcd since I have a new PC (athlon 1700) Windows XP. I have the new divx 5.0 codec implented. During encoding I hust see an black picture the whole time. After encoding has finished when I am playing the file I can hear the tone but picture remains black ? What should I do ? I have also divx player 2.0 alpha implemented on PC. Does the new divx 5.0 codec cause trouble interworking with tmpgenc ? Should I use another encoding software for converting to (s)vcd and which one ? Does anybody have some suggestions for me ?

Try rising the priority of your DirectShow plug-in in TMPGENC
Options > Environment settings > VFAPI plug-in > Right click on DirectShow > Select "Higher priority"
Repeat until priority of the DirectShow is at top of the list, is your video still black ? raise level higher.
If this makes no difference, load AVI into Vdub, scan for bad frames, save out another copy using streaming, use second copy in TMPGENC -

Not seen that happen before. I use to use "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" it was a hacked version of Vdub 1.4C it scanned the video the same way but made a log on drive C, you could then use that log to remove the bad frames.
I still have a copy just in-case there are problems like you mentioned.
Its sounds like your saving the bad frames not the movieYou haven't marked start-end have you ? after the scan you just save out another copy, Vdub skips the bad frames when saving.
It should take about 1 min to save (P4)
