    Hello,
To hard-code a subtitle into a movie I use "HandBrake" program. The text on the finished video is white with a large black shadow.
I searched into the program how to remove that shadow or make it smaller but did not find anything alike.
I will appreciate to get any help from this forum.
    Thanks.

    HandBrake version 1.3.

  2. HandBrake supports hardcoding of ASS muxed into the video file. Using ASS subtitles gives you control af the format for the subtitles.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answer.
Managed to convert a .srt subtitle file into .ssa format (with "Avidemux"). Loaded the movie and the .ssa subtitle into "HandBrake", but there is not any option to make some changes in the subtitle file.
Opened the .ssa file in the simple notepad, saw the text but it does not mean anything to me : how to change font type, font size, font color, remove that ugly big black shadow, etc.
In other words, how to make it suit to me.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

You do that in programs like Aegisub, Subtitle Edit

    Hello,
    Thanks again.
Opened the .ass subtitle file in "SubtitleEdit" (which is installed). Could not find anything about making the subtitle the way I like.
Here is attached a screenshot from the program. I see the font type and size which I can change manually, but where to select font color, remove the black shadow, etc.
In "Aegisub" no way to remove the shadow.
    Some help needed.
    Thanks
