    Gday,

I'm trying to create a HEVC file, using Handbrake, that will play on my LG TV. I have tried many combinations of settings of the "Video" tab but have had no luck eg Codec, Encoder tune/profile/level; my TV keeps saying "unsupported format", as does my WDTV Live. But, I have created an HEVC video with Movie Edit Pro that does play on the TV (using Main, Level 4); annoyingly, that file won't play properly on an ipad.

The TV specs indicate that it should play HEVC videos.

If somebody has successfully created a HEVC file for their LG TV, I would be grateful if you could share the settings you used.

    Thanks, Al

Give this one a try, it works on my 2017 LG uj6500 series TV

A mediainfo report or a short clip from a working video may help with the analysis

Thanks Dave and ProWo, I worked out what the issue is: Serviio! It mustn't be talking to the TV properly, because when I put the files into the Windows Video folder, they play correctly through the Windows Media server.

    Sorry for the false alarm!

On the subject, Serviio isn't going very well these days; apart from the issue of not correctly playing files over the network, it never picks up new of changed files unless I open the console.

Any suggestions for another media server for Windows?

What is Servio? Similar to Plex ?
I just use Windows media server and stream via an app on my phone to the TV using DLNA.

Why not just use the Windows media server? What do the others offer ?

Dave, yes, similar (I think) to Plex. I know nothing about Plex. Serviio is a media server which allows you to nominate folders to be monitored/played.

I'll have a look at Windows Media Server.

    Thanks again.
