  1. Hi,

I recently got a SVCD where there is one MPG file in the MPEG2 folder, and yet when I view the movie with PowerDVD, I can press the Next button and skip about ten minutes of the movie. (Normally, pressing the Next button will end the movie).

How do I make a SVCD in Nero where I can take one MPG file and make it so that when a person presses Next it will skip about ten minutes of the movie? From my newbie understanding of SVCDs, this can only be done if I break the one large MPG file up into several MPG files....

I've read many of the HOW-TO in search of this info, and I thought I found the answer in the use of SCANDATA.DAT, but I couldn't find the answer that worked.

  4. Thanks for the responses, but I'm looking for a solution where i can just drop a file onto the SVCD that will put the chapters in without my having to open a new app and inserting them for every movie I want to burn.

I've been reading some more FAQs, and it appears that the NEXT/PREVIOUS chapter information is stored in the ENTRIES.SVD file. When making a SVCD from an MPG, can I just copy the ENTRIES.SVD file from an existing SVCD (which skips every 10-15 minutes when NEXT/PREVIOUS is pressed) and drop it in a new SVCD and burn with Nero?

well since you have to author anyway why not use TSCV or VCDeasy.
there you can either set the second for each chapter or a chapter every X min. You can have vcdeasy burn it too.

i dont know about the ENTRIES.SVD thingy but i know TSCV works a dream and is easy as easy can be.
Well, I am the slime from your video.
Oozin' along on your livin'room floor.
