    Hi

Yep, I must have seen the same question asked 999.9 times along with the same questions on the usual problem.

    This means;

1, I'm too lazy to look through the forum messages
2, I don't have time to read all the messages
    3, What's a search button ?
    4, I want answers NOW !
5, Oh now that I posted the message I found the answer, so please don't bother to reply to my post
6, I did a search and it found 3000 pages, where do I start.
7, I never seen the help pages on the left.

Well I'm sure everyone can give some other reasons, and I am also sure that we all get fed up of seeing the same question asked over and over, but lets face it we all started out the same way.

Sometimes the same error on one persons machine, does not have the same cure. So the reply someone got previously may now be no good, especially if there has been a new release of the software.

    Well I think the reader has 4 choice's;

1, Ignore the post and read others
2, Reply "God not this question again"
3, Give the wrong answer, saying it has something to do with Microsoft
    4, Reply with the answer.

I recon number 4 will always be the most useful, so here is my reply

At a guess, I would say the AVI you have downloaded is corrupt, you need to fix the AVI before you continue !!

How do you fix the AVI ?

search this forum and your questions will be answered over and over again

1, load AVI into Vdub 1.49
2, select Video > Scan video stream for errors
3, select video streaming, audio streaming
4, SAVE AS, save out a new file movie2.avi

Now try the new save in TMPGENC

  7. to letmeinforgodsake, part of my thinking in suggesting that newbies search the forum or read the guides, rather than simply answering the same questions over and over again is that, in doing so I hope to point out that what we have here is an invaluable information resource. By spoonfeeding the newbies they miss out on loads of potentially useful and even essential information in the field of VCD (etc) creation. This field of computer use which interests those who use this site is one that is still in its relative infancy and simple, foolproof, works everytime solutions do not exist. Therefore when a newbie comes along who wishes to partake of this hobby I believe it beneficial that we point them in the direction of at least the basic information and also show them how to at least attempt to find solutions to their problems. To me, learing and problem solving, though sometimes frustrating, is a large part of the fun. So I try to encourage others down this same path.

If answering the same questions over and over again makes you feel good, then that is your choice and I have no problem with that.

just my 2 cents worth as they say

FYI, the only time I have posted questions on this forum have been after much hard work and searching for information/solutions without success. But thats just the way I do things.

  8. I have found that de-activating the QTreader plugin helps to not get the "Illegal floating decimal point calcualtion order " error in alot of cases.

  9. thanks but not everyone has hours and hours to spend reading this , some people have "lives" and need help asap ... i understand the trouble you may have with all these and u dont need to reply back. But some people just don't got time and i wish u understood that. Some people aren't computer smart and just need some help/advice , so thanks for cooperation

  10. Option
    Environmental setting...
    VFAPI Plug-in
and then unclick QuickTime Movie Reader (QTReader.vfp)

If that's nor woking, I load the file in Vitrualdub and frameserve the file in TMPGenc (don't tell me you don't know how to do this)

    Cheers

  11. Topher_20, I too have a life and I choose carefully what to do with my time. When I take an interest in a subject I take care to find out at least the minimum of what I need to know and when I encounter problems I make an effort to solve them. I do not expect every solution to be handed me on a plate. If thats what you want out of life, then fine, thats up to you and I don't have a problem with that. I am more than willing to help people who can show evidence that they have at least attepmpted to help themselves first.

One thing you might want to think about tho, the people who have the knowledge to help you have gained that knowledge mostly through hard work and experience. Video encoding is a very complex subject and we all owe a great debt to those people who produce the tools and guides that we have come to rely on. I think it shows a lack of respect of those peoples hard work and dedication to the subject when we cant even be bothered to read the guides or the help files provided with the (mostly) free software that we use.

If you can't find sufficient time in you busy life to even try and find the necessary answers to your problems then I would politley suggest that video encoding as a hobby or pastime is not for you.

    Hi

Well I don't mind having to post the same reply over and over, I keep meaning to keep a copy for next time funny think is sometimes the same question is asked with different topic subjects, so I can sometime paste the same answer with just cutting out the in-appropriate bits.

I agree that there is a lot to learn and so little time to learn it all. But when people post messages it is obvious they want the solution, if that solution is being told RTFM then so be it, but its just as easy to post a reply than to post those messages.

So if your fed up of reading the same post over and over, ignore them and move on.

My sense of humor sometimes gets the better of me and I will reply with some funny remark (Hopefully its funny)

So to all your newbie's out there, Welcome to the forum if you don't find what your looking for then ask !!

If your told to RTFM then go read it then come back and say, I read it now, how do I do this....

P.S the manual is outdated as soon as its written

Don't know what you mean by setup, but you just install and use. If its just being used to fix junk frames then just follow my info. But you have a lot more to learn about it for other things.
