I have a high quality audio interface for music recording - since this is essentially an analog to digital converter I would think I could use it to convert analog video from an old camcorder. Am I mistaken, and if not can anybody recommend a software that will do the task? (I am only concerned with the video, not the audio). Thank you!

It won't work with video since it's built for audio sources, check on the connections to see if any say "video out",if not no go.

Video frequencies are three orders of magnitude higher than audio. Audio capture hardware will not work for video.
