  1. i was trying to encode avi files but it says it cannot be supported
    it encoded similar files
    by the way the avi files are 15 mb

    Probably TMPG can not handle that large file.
    Split the avi to several small files. http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubedit.htm
    Chose as output file names file00.avi, file01.avi, file02.avi, etc. etc.
    Then open the first segment (file00.avi) in VirtualDub and frameserve to TMPG (all segments will get loaded automaticly).

    Also decompress the audio to wav if it is a compressed format.
    In TMPG you may play with the priorities of the VFAPI plugins.
    In addition I recommend to install ReadAVS.dll, that is used as VirtualDub/Avisynth file reader VFAPI plugin.

    Am I missing something here ? He says AVI is 15mb That is a very small file ?

    Sounds like you need to install the codec needed to compress/decompress this AVI
