Hi,
I am going to digitize some old 8mm videos.
The recordings were done on a Hitachi VM-H57E, this is now broken and does not work at all.
I have now borrowed a Canon UC5000 to try to playback and record the videos.
When I playback the video there are some stripes on the video along edges etc., what could cause this? (See attached picture)
Could it be that it is recorded on a Hi8 camera, and the playback camera is a not a Hi8 camera?

Yep, You need a Hi8 camcorder. Those black lines are the luma signal clipping by the V8 camcorder.
