So I'm using a VCR to watch DVDs on my CRT. I would like to view the subtitles, however my VCR doesn't seem to have that option. Is my only available option to make a hardsubbed version and burn it to disc?

    P.S. Merry Christmas.

  2. DVD subs are generally accessed through a menu on the disc.

Video Cassette Recorders (VCRs) do not play DVDs, so I am assuming you have a hybrid unit. It is unclear what your source is, are these DVDs you are creating yourself, commercial discs?

Commercial discs, and yes it is a hybrid unit. It features a VHS player and comes with a built-in DVD one. I don't know how to move the menu with the VCR, it didn't come with a remote (I bought it second-hand.)

Then you will need to buy the remote.
