  1. I would appreciate any help with this.

For some reason when I play my pioneer DVD-R on my pioneer dv-343
Standalone player, I get freezes, and pixels toward the end of the
DVD.(the last 3 minutes). I have checked this DVD with other players,
and I have noticed the same problem, except the DVD starts to freeze a
lot earlier. Is there any reason why the DVD player would not be able
to read the video correctly toward the end of the Disk,(outer tracks)?
I did burn a test copy first using my DVD-RW(TDK), and have no
problems at any point of the DVD.(It never pixels or freezes). If I
can get the DVD-RW to work flawlessly, I know it isn't the way I
created the DVD. The only difference I know of, is the Burning method.
I burned the DVD-RW at 1x speed, and I believe the Pioneer DVD-R was
    burned at 2x.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Vizcaya

Oyeah this is what Im using, the pioneer a03,
I am using virtual_dub, to capture the analog video, then using Ulead video studio6.0 for authoring and converting to mpegDVD format, then I use Ulead dvdmoviemaker to create my menus and also to create my Video_ts, and Audio_ts folders. I use primoDVD to burn the DVD.

The TKD -RW played fine right?

What type/brand of media was working incorrectly, this is exactly the problem I've been talking about with alot of the cheaper media...

  3. The Pioneer DVD-R is the disk that played well till the last three minutes, I also checked with my CD-Recordable.com disk, it plays well till it get around 100 minutes into the movie, then it also skips, and gets worse as the movie goes on.

The Pioneer disks are not cheap. The cd-recordable disks are cheapos. The only thing thats in common, is the time that the skipping and freezes occur. As the disc gets toward 100 minutes, this is when the DVD has problems.

    Thanks

What set top players are you testing on? Like I said this tends to be a problem with cheap disk and some set top players.... maybe it just doesn't like yours at all.

    OK,
It might be Ulead problem, as I got pixilation too. However, DVDit! and Pinnacle impression did not have pixilation if burned directly from them. On the other hand, it might be cheap DVD-R media or simply the mix of both things.

Can somebody else make some tests where generic discs are authored with DVDit! or some other application except Ulead to see if pixilation still occurs?

You know, I hate to be defending Ulead, but the pixelation problem is NOT with their software. If you don't believe me, then create a title set on the hard drive and view it with WMP. If the authoring software "pixelated" the movie, it will show up here.

You will probably find out that the problem lies with the cheap media, or a defective burner. If the burner overheats (they DO get hot... notice the little fan in the back?), then your burn most likely will fail - and late in the movie. I believe that Vizcaya's problem may be a DVD burner going south (since the Pioneer DVD-R media was bad, too).

  9. Hi,

I recently bought a pioneer DVR-104 from hypermicro. I also bought generic dvd-r media from them.
I use an ati aiw radeon to capture movies, TMPGenc to separate out the audio and convert it to the correct format for dvd and then put it back together.
Then I use ulead dvd movie factory to author and burn the dvd. I thought it was working out, until I tried to watch the whole movie. Same as you, I run into problems with pixellation and freezing around 100 minutes into the movie.

If I watch it from my hard drive it looks fine.

Once again, what brand of media are you using? This is a classic example of the set top player not liking a cheap media brand... different media seems to have different results on different settop players... at least on the cheap side it does.

  11. Ok, I use Intensio CD-R, CD-RW och HP DVD+RW. All hiquality. My stand alone VCD is a Kendo.

  12. I also get the same problem on the Intenso 99 minute CDs but ONLY if I overburn past the 90 minute mark. If the movie is less than 90 minutes then the error does not occur. I play the VCD in a Pioneer DV340. I haven't checked if the CD will play in my PC after 90 minutes.

  13. I have not overburned the cd. I only get the problem when its more than one movie on the cd. For example, i have 4 movies each 90 mb, i get the trouble. I have only used 700 mb, 800 mb and 4,7 gb RW-cds.
