  1. I use XMedia Recode and sometimes when I cut I have sounds issues at the start and the end. I do get it you need to click on [ or ] to cut at right places so to speak to get a no-sound-issue result but even if I do that it doesn't work all the time.

My question is I don't know if it's Xmedia Recode fault. Any other software that cuts better? I'm sure it's got nothing to do with software. I just wanna know what happens here that causes sounds issues and how I can cut better? I want to understand how it works. Pretty sure it's got something to do with P B I frames and how a video stream is coded but I don't know

No. It has nothing to do with the video. And those suggestions to edit at the markers are suggestions for where to cut on Intra Frames to avoid re-encoding the video.
Audio is different. It is not frames-based but rather sample based. You can cut on any/every sample (assuming it isn't linked & affecting the timing of the video). However, those samples constitute a waveform and that waveform has peaks & dips. If you cut on anywhere in the waveform but at a zero crossing point, you will create a "CLICK". The further away from zero (positive, or negative), the louder the click. This is made worse if one clip's cut is butted up against anothers' of the opposite polarity.
This can be avoided by cutting at the zero points (very commonly & regularly dispersed), or by creating little fade ins and fade outs.
Some editing apps will do this for you automatically. I don't know this one well, but since it is considered "basic", it is likely it does NOT do this for you automatically.

  3. ^^ Brilliant answer.

May I suggest Avidemux as the (free) solution.

Is it this better than Xmedia recode?

I've just tested it. Wow you can cut anywhere and no sound issues. No silence no pops nothing. And the UI is way more straightforward

AND THE BEST OF ALL. When you import this cut into Premiere there's no DESYNC

Thank a bunch, Mate!!! This piece of software is amazing. I can just cut out bits from my videos and delete the rest. I have terabytes of files but I'm lazy to edit them and Xmedia recode messed them up when I tried to cut them. Now I can free up so much space!

Regarding AviDemux I tested all 3 options "move index to the begging of the file" "no optimization" "fragmentation" I thought they make the difference. They don't. What do they do? I can't find any documentation on the program's site about it

I see no documentation that says that avidemux has auto trim fades either, so proceed with caution.

...Wait...you have premiere? Then why are you messing around with these other tools?

Auto Trim fades? fade to dark? I don't use that anyway when I record with OBS.

Why? Why wouldn't I? Are you serious? I have to import into Premiere, wait for audio conformation, render which takes time and loses quality. I lose quality and a lot of time in the process. I just need to cut out good stuff and edit and render when I feel like it and have time. Even now cutting bits from my vids will save tons of time. I have to do it daily and with many vids.

  7. Avidemux is a good tool to do a first lossless cut-down (on keyframes) without re-encoding.
