    Hi everyone.

I know i have to buy a new motherboard and memory for newer cpu's, i dont play games, the pc is used mostly for video/photo editting.

my "newbie side" on this subject found some amd cpu's

    ryzen 7 2700
    ryzen 5 3600

from what i read on reviews the 2700 has more cpu's/threads that are more suitable for video editing but its an older cpu "architecture", both are about same price here.

    Thanks
I love it when a plan comes together!

Go for the 2700 for any 8 core video editing. It will blow away your current one.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Depends on how much you want to spend, you can buy the 5800x but it probably twice as much or more but better for video editing.

John, I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and it works pretty well for editing 4k.
    No need for proxy/preview files.

What would be a good upgrade for faster render times?
    5600X has 6 cores.
    3800X has 8 cores.
Both have similar CPU benchmarks of 23,000
Is one better than the other for video editing?
