Anyone know how to Capture pal60 and then convert it to VCD, and should the vcd be authored as Pal or NTSC.
The thing is that my Sony dvd is using Pal 60 when i'm playing any Reg.1 disc as it is a European model(such as I). Usually i'll do all dvd-rip on my computer but my DVD-ram is broken for the moment and i'll must use my capturecard (Pin PCTV).
And i get picture but not sure what resolution pal60 is using and at what framerate i'm going to capture(I'm using VD).
And when i'm encoding in TMPGEnc i dont know if i'm gonna use Pal or NTSC-settings???

PAL-60 is a non-standard standard
that is basically a hybrid between PAL and NTSC.
Asfar as I know, few cards support this standard,
and that either means its a no-go or that it will
**** your capture up. (like 100pixels of the top missing)
I´ve been talking with Hauppauge and their
programmer that writes the drivers for Wintv PVR,
and he says that he might be able to implent
PAL-60 in some months, but right now it dosnt work at all.
You can however, use Dscaler, which supports PAL-60
althought the drivers dont,
but then you have a alpha capturecode to work with,
and only avi.
(well maybe you dont have a mpeg hardware capture, but still)
You probably wont concider this,
but I for one am Importing a multistandard vcr
that can output PURE standard PAL and NTSC streams,
so my Hauppauge card can capture it directly to svcd.
thats the best solution for me,
and probably for you unless you have some card
that supports PAL-60, or can stand using Dscalers capture rutines. -
I seem to get the whole picture during capture at 704*480, but it's kinda "choppy". Seems to work best at 30fps. But then when i'm encoding nearest is 29.97 and i suppose the size would be 352*240.
As the source is NTSC the vcd should be so to, i guess. I really don't know.
