    I tried VOB from USB on TV, it deinterlaces verry well (TV Codec !). But this TV stretches all to 16-9, source must have black bands.

    I go to Bordeaux for Christmas today, i'l be back 29-12.

    Thanks Jagabo (i already have "needi3" and "QTGMC")

    Bonnes vacances, bonne fête et bone année

    EDIT : tested this two but same result, when back i'll try better.......

    TV's typically deinterlace very similar to Yadif(mode=1). The reason you think it looks better is because you can't stop it and zoom in individual frames one by one.

    Don't forget your source has lots of defects that aren't going to be fixed by field matching or deinterlacing. One thing that can help with those defects is to use QTGMC as a post processor:

    Code:
    TFM().QTGMC(preset="fast", InputType=2, sharpness=0.5)

    That works perfectly, with Manara, Parva won't need any advance tretment ( "TFM()" is good).

    I did encode 3AM w/o resize filter (H265 NVEnc), in MPC-be windowed mode aspect-ratio is displayed as MkvToolnix indicates (i edited "Height" setting : 752), but not in fullscreen, frame height displays as specified in default encoded file (572). 552 gives exact frame as DVD. Resize filter is bad for image quality, i don't want use it.

    BONNES FÊTES.

    [/CODE]
    And what PC software media player deinterlaces as good as QTGMC does ?

    EDIT2 : Girlfight, the DVD is 1.85:1, MeGui indexer DGIndex outputs a m2v file but my media players display the frames in a strange form (half the 16/9 monitor has black bands).
    FIXED : VDub sees it correctly, only players fail.

    Soon i will receive (i promise, i will be the last DVD) H, perhaps i'll need help for deinterlace.

    Girlfight A/R problems :

    1°) DVD folder with media players render correct 1.85:1 A/R (16/9 with tiny black bands).
    2°) Extracted .m2v video stream with MeGui, recreated index on .m2v, as usual :
    3°)
    Index from VDub (.midx) with .m2v, displays correct A/R (declares 1.422:1), exports 4/3.
    Avidemux opens DVD folder in 4/3 (info says PAL 16/9), exports wider than original source.
    .avs script with .d2v in VDub declares unknown A/R, and exports in 4/3.

    I will certainly need an AVS thing to fix A/R issue.

    Sample and files :

    Sorry, sample from Avidemux !! EDIT : OK, MPCbe shows wider frames o my other computer !!

    Attached files ++

    EDIT 3 : i don't see interlace at all. In that case i'd use direct DVD files with Handbrake.

    Kind of DVD that comes with two A/R !!

    This one says : Aspect Ratio: Full Frame - 1.33 :
    https://www.oldies.com/product-view/79716M.html

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I prefer full frame aka 4/3, why i can't choose when ripping DVD ? 1.85:1 compatible 4/3 is written on the box, better write nothing, is there DVDs not compatible 4/3 ?
    Tue fullframe DivX is good quality, i'll put french AC3 on it !

    A DVD sample, it's H, a French serie (sitcom), so it should be kept 25 fps, looks like fully interlaced, i have all DVDs for the 4 seasons.

    What would you use for that kind of DVD ?

    It's interlaced video. If you want to keep the smooth motion you should double the frame rate with QTGMC() or Yadif(mode=1).

    jagabo, thanks,

    so, it will be 50fps after, that's the way to keep the smoothness, OK !

    And Conan (ManOWar), did you watched also ?

  9. I took a quick look at B-Conan2lilith.mpg. It's simple telecined film. TFM().TDecimate().

    Now that i worked on "interlace" DVDs i can say i don't catch it at all, to my eyes :

    3AM (first in topic) hasn't nothing progressive (wrong, i has to use it in the script as well with deint),
    Manara (and Parva) animes, thanks jajabo....... i kept 25fps
    Conan , i was not sure, but NTSC means Telecine.
    H, true interlace, easy to see.

    And now i'm more aware about all that stuff, i touched from NTSC until PAL sources.
    Many thanks my friends.

    Bonne santé 2021 (happyly, French text in forums doesn't need "pitch correction " LOL)

    Hello again,

    so i will show my scripts for all those DVDs here, just to clarify if i didn't put unneeded settings, because there is : movies, animes, PAL and NTSC sources.

    3.A.M (taxis pour cible) :
    i don't use resize filter anymore, it destroys source quality ! BUT, adding height (552) setting to MkvToolnix doesn't works in FULLSCREEN ! Only in windowed media player(s).
    I shouldn't CROP at all, and no probleme anymore. OK!.

    LoadPlugin("C:\Utilities\AviSynth+\plugins64+\DGDecode.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("3AMDemuxV.d2v", CPU2="ooooxx")

    TFM()
    Crop(10,2,-6,-2)
    QTGMC(InputType=2)
    AssumeFPS(24000,1000)

    prefetch(8)

    Conan MOW : SAMPLE
    frames numbers are different between deinterlacers by processing same source (source(sample)=7350-7539 / tfm=5880-6031 / tdecim=4704-4825), more frames means less destroyed data ??? It's 3:2 pulldown, NTSC.
    Do i keep "CPU2oooxx" line ?

    LoadPlugin("C:\Utilities\AviSynth+\plugins64+\DGDe code.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("Conan-aV.d2v", CPU2="ooooxx")

    TFM()
    Crop(12,58,-8,-62)

    prefetch(8)

    H (French série) : SAMPLE
    Yadif is not good, really, QTGMC can be tweaked in my opinion, i'd like help for this one specially, because i like it really lot. It's PAL, i keep 25fps (no, 50 in fact, because of processing interlace for keeping smoothness).
    Do i keep "CPU2oooxx" line ?

    LoadPlugin("C:\Utilities\AviSynth+\plugins64+\DGDe code.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("HSery1V.d2v", CPU2="ooooxx")

    QTGMC()
    Crop(12,58,-8,-62)

    prefetch(8)

    Manara (parfum invisible) :
    Great Jagabo fixed it !!
    PAL, keep 25fps. It's French & Italian produced.
    Do i keep "CPU2oooxx" line ? for animation also ?

    LoadPlugin("C:\Utilities\AviSynth+\plugins64+\DGDe code.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("ParfumInvisblV.d2v", CPU2="ooooxx")

    TFM().QTGMC(preset="fast", InputType=2, sharpness=0.5)
    Crop(12,2,-8,-2)

    prefetch(8)

    Légende de Parva :
    PAL, keep 25fps. It's French & Italian produced.
    Do i keep "CPU2oooxx" line ? for animation also ?

    LoadPlugin("C:\Utilities\AviSynth+\plugins64+\DGDe code.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("LegendeParV.d2v", CPU2="ooooxx")

    TFM()
    Crop(0,96,-0,-96)

    prefetch(8)

    That's the end, i thing to remove CROP line from scripts, (but Parva needs it, 16:9 letterboxed in 4:3 with top & bottom black lines). OR, learn the magic of crop and keep exact aspect ratio without resizing.......
    I'm not sure about the need of "CPU2oooxx" line for all those DVDs sources.
    H, it's PAL, needs double framerate, for this one (71 episodes) i'd like to tweak the process with your help.

    C'est bon,

    i received Girlfight, it was dualsided DVD, one had the movie in 4:3 ("fullframe"), now i have to sync the PAL French audio (VFF) with that NTSC VFQ DVD.
    From PAL to 23.976, and i have to check delay (2.xxx seconds from what i've seen).

    It's 3-2 pulldown if i understand what i see, i'll use same script than for Conan MOW !

  14. The Girl Fight clip was normal 3:2 pulldown. In fact, it's progressive frames with 3:2 pulldown flags. If the whole video is like that you can use DgIndex in Video -> Field Operation -> Force Film mode. That way the output of Mpeg2Source("filename.d2v") will be 23.976 fps progressive.

    Taht's about the new sample right ? OK, i'll find DGIndex option to index it like that
    Audio sync part's easy.

    Merci encore.

    Use the File -> Preview option to test the entire movie. If it is more than about 99 percent film you can use the Force Film option. On the other hand, it's safer to use the Honor Pulldown Flags mode and use TFM().TDecimate() in a script.

    Hello,

    i did the index, the .m2v file is smaller, but it's not progressive at all in result, i'll honor the Flag, and use the AVS script.

    For this movie (NTSC GFight) all the .d2v files i made (since .vob index) are indicating (last line) : FINISHED 58,81% VIDEO. MPC can't seek, VLC can, VDub .midx works until end of movie, time's good, AVS script works as intended/expected also).
    Other indexes for all DVDs were always 100%.

    And now i fixed the script line for NTSC DVDs ( i used "TFM()." and "TDecimate()" separately until today, i think i added a "." and that's why it didn't work first, so i thinked it was two different ways to deinterlace, but it's one line only ) !! Now i can do Conan without watching details differences. No probleme, i just tested on little parts :/

    My last question ,about H, is there advanced deinterlace functions that can produce a better output, it's 71 episodes, i will start when sure it's possible or not.

    Bonsoir.

    EDIT=

    i found Resident Evil 2 Apocalypse has two VFF, a new dub has been redone recently, the unkut version (German), was in VO, now, the new VF2 works on unkut and theatrical, but, the original VFF has sometimes French if sync to unkut parts where VF2 doesn't (yes, not all is dubbed in French (even VFQ) for the unkut, some sentences are in VO).
    I had to sync the VFI from old source, because the new VF2 is mandatory on new releases, but's a poor dub.

    That's the best moment of the movie, VFI (old VFF, good), VFQ (okay), VO (actors voice), VF2 (terr!ble) :

    Yes, you can use:

    Code:
    Mpeg2Source("filename.d2v")
    TFM().TDecimate()
    or

    Code:
    Mpeg2Source("filename.d2v")
    TFM()
    TDecimante()
    The end result is the same.

    QTGMC() is the most advanced deinterlacing method currently available and it produces the best results with most material. But no deinterlacer is perfect, nor can there ever be a perfect deinterlacer. If you find a particular shot where QTGMC() screws something up you can look for other methods. This thread:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/399927-The-problem-with-deinterlacing-or-pulldown

    has some examples where QTGMC() messed up and some alternate methods worked better.

    Well, H saison 1 (20 ep.) done.

    Strange, if i don't crop 3AM (no crop line in script), the result file displays at the same aspect 5:4 ratio as when i cropped or resized it (i don't resize anymore, it blurs), so, it's not crop fault (nor was resize).

  21. If you're not resizing to the correct aspect ratio you should encode with SAR flags so the player displays the video with the correct aspect ratio.

    DVDs PAL (16:9 crop) & NTSC (fullframe), GirlFight has VFQ but i "want" (need) VFF from the PAL source, problem, i'll have to sync audio because :

    Frames & times async :

    VFQ (NTSC)
    1:23.458
    1:42:50.081
    -
    @24 fps (AVS VDub) :
    1:23.375
    1:42:43.917

    VFF (PAL)
    @23.976 fps (AVS VDub) :
    1:25.711
    1:42:50.289
    @24 fps (AVS VDub) :
    1:25.625
    1:42:44.125

    I don't have audio tools apart UseEac3To, i know Audacity can do it, do i need it ?

    Hello,

    it's really difficult to do, i don't understand the good way to sync this two audio streams.

    I want the PAL (16/9 cropped) VFF AC3 audio to be syncked with the NTSC (4/3 fullframe) because VFQ is bad to the ears !!

    I'll give more infos soon, when i have the two sources processed/exported as LagAVI.

    MX Player installed instead of builtin MMP in 4KTV Androîd 9, works great, displayed correctly in 4/3.
