Hey guys,
my dad gave me this DVD-VCR combo after having some audio and video issues trying to convert some of his tapes to see if I can fix it. It's an inexpensive unit from 2003 but I don't think it was used much. Didn't really have any dust inside. I cleaned the VCR heads but the issues still remain.
I tried several tapes and depending on the tape it's either diagonal lines running across the screen while the audio is fine OR irregular audio buzz with no or very slight diagonal lines. The DVD section works fine. What might be the cause? Maybe bad capacitors?

(the horizontal flicker is from the phone recording)
