A recent version of Ubuntu might be too much for this laptop, storage is very small and slow. 2GB ram is low, espcially if the video ram is used by the system ram.

So my advice would be, no.
For your needs u'll have to find a laptop with much higher specs

You may be able to use Ubuntu but Xubuntu would be better for that. And frankly an Intel Atom powered machine with 2Gb RAM is going to be pretty useless for Blender.
