  1. Hi there, I am trying to copy a vcd directly to a blank cd.

I have ripped dvds to cd and they work no problem, so I thought it would be even easier to copy a vcd to cdr.

I used clone cd and read at max (x16), and burned at x4.

The disc plays ok in my dvd-rom, but not in my stand-alone dvd player.

    I should note that
    - the vcds I have made b4 play fine in my dvd player
    - I am using the same discs that work with ripped dvds

Is there another way to copy a vcd, is there a way I can rip it to my hard drive and encode it again? Using TMPEng or something?

How do I rip it to my harddrive?

    Many thanks

  2. I tried to copy and burn at read speed x4, and burn speed x4, and again it didnt work.

The same thig happened, it tried to play it, and the screen went black, it couldnt move on to the first track, it just kept spinning.

It can read how long the disc is in minutes etc, but it seems like it cant start playing.......

I know it is not the blank dics I am using, so it must be either the way I am burning, or maybe clone cd is not so good at copying them.

Any settings I should use in Clone? eg Fast error skip, read sub-channel etc?

    Thanks

  3. I have used clone CD to copy VCDs a lot and have had no problems.

My stand-alone player does not support SVCD and it acts just as you describe BUT you said your older disks are ok.

    Have you tried copying by
    1. copy all .DAT files to your harddrive
    2. make a new (S)VCD using say Nero using them as your source files.

If in doubt this should work always, unless the source (S)VCD is corrupt.

  4. could you explain to me how to copy the .dat files to my hard drive?

I dont have NERO, but can I use VCD Easy to burn them to VCD?

Or is there a way to rip the mpegs off the VCD?

    Thanks....

  5. You just copy the files using Windows Explorer. The files are named AVSEQxx.DAT in the MPEGAV folder (this is for VCD). For SVCD the folder is MPEG2.

Once copied you can use say VCDGear to convert them to Mpeg files and then use them in VCDEasy. This conversion I beileve is optional as you should just be able to use them as files in VCDEasy (I have not tried).

You can also use the VCDxRip tool in VCDEasy to rip all the files to your harddrive, and then re-burn with VCDEasy.

PS. I whole heartedly recommend Nero as it handles VCDs and SVCDs well and will burn BIN/CUE files generated by VCDEasy.

  6. I have successfully copied many VCDs using Nero. Just copy them like you would any other CD.

  7. Use DiscJuggler to make a straight CD to CD copy. This is the best program out there and I've never had a dud playstation or vcd burn so far.

    Opps...sorry Sony ~LOL~

  8. Simple answer to this one.
The VCD you are trying to copy is probably a commercially produced VCD, while you are trying to burn your copied VCD onto a CDR.
Lots of DVD players, while they can play commercial VCD, cannot read CDRs (which are a different medium...) and therefore your DVD player may not be able to read the copy you burnt, while managing to read the original (by the way, please do not complicate matters, just copy CD to CD using any burning software like Nero or EZCD Creator).

Here s a tip for you: try copying your VCD onto a CDRW instead and see if your player has better luck reading the resulting VCD. This works on a lot of older players.
