Thank God!!! I couldn't stand his builds, pure garbage, too bad it took this long.
-
That's a pity, zeranoe did a good job and delivered perfect static builds to thousands of Windows users. Thanks to him for my part.
-
That's sad.
But anyway, thanks to Zeranoe for providing decent Windows builds so far. :applause: -
Well, that suckxs
Anyway, as a last resort one can still use the Media AutoBuild Suite...
Thanks to him for creating the GCC build scripts that were improved/updated by nevcairiel."Programmers are human-shaped machines that transform alcohol into bugs." -
Indeed thats a bummer. Most Windows users use that website, so I hope that ffmpeg will have an alternative the next few weeks.
Who really needs new ffmpeg builds for windows can either build it with Media AutoBuild Suite (if it fail the first time because of some non existent download, please close it and re-run the batch file), or you can download it from jeremylee (it is hosted and build from a member of the AV1 Community). -

There's so many optional dependencies which need to be pre-built when building one's own ffmpeg.exe for Windows, that it can be a bit of a nightmare for non-programmers.
This place https://github.com/m-ab-s/media-autobuild_suite seems VERY well maintained and provides a means to roll one's own ffmpeg.exe.
If one wanted to get fancy, or be a bit more protective of the PC, I suppose one could consider whether to download the large microsoft Win10 developer VM (free last time I looked) and run it in that. -

Just curious, who created the original ffmeg build?
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -

Any chimpanzee with a Linux distro can build ffmpeg for Windows:
./configure --arch=x86 --target-os=mingw32 --cross-prefix=i686-w64-mingw32-
make
Copy the resulting executable to a Windows system; you don't even need to install Linux onto a hard disk to do this, with Win 10 just use the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) or use a Live-USB of your favorite distro.
All this outpouring because the website is closing down, he wasn't splitting the atom, he was doing something that literally takes 2 minutes on my R5 1600 PC to do.
And for the record, if you're a "developer" of some Windows GUI that doesn't know how to compile ffmpeg, then you aren't much of a developer. -
I will hire a chimpanzee that can make builds for me.
-
You're missing the point, that website served no purpose, you don't need a website to host a Windows build of ffmpeg, all you need is to download the source and copy and paste 2 lines into the cli.
I never understood the purpose of having a site like that nor of people that could not figure out how to build it themselves.
Maybe it's all the years of using Linux has gotten me used to building apps from source.Last edited by sophisticles; 16th Sep 2020 at 11:58.
