I had to reinstall Windows XP because it died in a horrible mess. When it came back, it came time to reinstall the divx/mp3 stuff to watch/encode movies. Something very stupid is going on, every time I go to FlasKMPEG and encode an mpeg to divx, I select the divx codec (in my case, 5.0.1), and then select the mp3 codec, but when I press OK and resizes, FlasKMPEG crashes. I can select a different audio codec and it resizes and gets ready fine.

Also, when I try and encode with VirtualDub as an alternative, it never encodes any video data, ever.

I used some half-assed thing to install the mp3 codec, now it and any listing in the add/remove programs dialog doesn't exist so I can't remove it. Now it's all broken. Does anyone know how to full remove it all so I can install the radium mp3 codec because that's the one I use and it has worked fine for a long time.

The only thing I know is that I think all the codecs are .acm files in my c:\windows\system32\ directory.
